Last updated: Jul 14, 2021 by EFILive Support For FlashScan V2, controllers are licensed when the flash option is selected but before the flash commences where BBF (Black Box Flashing) is used. Follow these steps to license and flash the selected controller.

Follow these steps to determine the tuning license status on your FlashScan.

1. Connect your FlashScan device to your PC.
2. Open the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune application.
3. Select the [F7: License] option in the left-hand pane.
4. Select [F2: Hardware] to display Tuning License details.
   

What does this display mean?

1. Device Summary Tabs:
   1. Firmware - displays Product type, Boot Block and Firmware Versions
   2. VIN Licenses - Installed, Used and Available license summary.
   3. Flash Counters - total number of Cal Flashes and Full Flashes performed.
2. Tuning License Summary:
   1. Scanning and Logging - activated on all FlashScan and AutoCal devices.
   2. GM Tuning - enables Flashing for GM supported vehicles.
   3. Cummins Tuning - enables Flashing for Dodge Cummins supported vehicles.
   4. Cummins HD - enables Flashing for Cummins HD supported vehicles (this option is only available of FlashScan/AutoCal V3 and FlashScan/AutoCal HD products).
   5. Pro Tuning - not yet available.

To purchase additional Tuning Licenses for FlashScan V3 or FlashScan V2;

1. Click on the Purchase Tuning License Activation Code(s) link to order products.
2. Copy your Serial Number from the Serial Number display.
3. Enter emailed Activation Code and select Activate.

Efi Live Software License Activation

TCM Licenses are free for customers running V8.3.1 software (or later) and licensed TCMs are no longer displayed.

Efilive License Verification

Follow these steps to determine the VIN license status on your FlashScan .

1. Connect your FlashScan device to your PC.
2. Open the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune application.
3. Select the [F7: License] option in the left-hand pane.
4. Select [F3: VINs] to display VIN License details.
   

5. For VIN License purchases, click the [Generate Auth Code] button. The Authentication Code will be shown in the Auth Code field.

Stream Licenses are only available for purchase on FlashScan V2. Where a customer purchases FlashScan V3, a Stream License Transfer service is available.

Follow these steps to determine the Stream license status on your FlashScan.

1. Connect your FlashScan device to your PC.
2. Open the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune application.
3. Select the [F7: License] option in the left-hand pane.
4. Select [F3: Streams] to display Stream License details.
   

To purchase additional Stream Licenses for FlashScan V2;

1. Click on the Purchase Activation Code(s) link to order products.
2. Select the Stream Code from the drop down list.
3. Enter the emailed Activation Code and select Activate Stream License.

The Pro Tuning License is not currently available for purchase. When available, customers will need to sign a legal waiver prior to enabling this function.

Adding a Pro-Tuning license to EFILive DOES NOT / WILL NOT provide additional tuning parameters. The same tuning parameters are available with or without a Pro Tuning license. The features for the Pro Tuning License when it becomes available are:

1. The ability to load User Defined Calibrations (*.cax files) that contain calibration definitions that overlap with existing EFILive defined calibrations (*.calz files).

   Users can currently create User Defined Calibrations (*.cax files) that contain calibration information not available in the software. The pro-tuning license only REMOVES the restriction preventing you from defining a parameter already defined by EFILive. This feature will save some users time in eliminating the need to edit their *.cax file, especially when EFILive adds new parameters to the software.

2. The ability to override the restriction that prevents overwriting a controller’s operating system with a non-compatible operating system from a different model-year.

3. This feature is most suited to GM Gas controllers where a very complex and multi-layered compatible operating system matrix exists to minimize the ability to kill an ECM during the flash process. This same complexity does not exist for Diesel, where it is much easier to change operating systems inside the existing EFILive software framework. The exception to this is flashing the Allison TCM given the different factory hardware versions and factory software versions that exist. EFILive is very confident that if a user was to flash a different OS into an Allison TCM in almost all cases the ECM would not function and would not be recoverable; which is also the case using GM factory software.

EFILive technical support is provided to trouble shoot and resolve issues that occur when using the standard EFILive software with the existing safeguards in place. Technical support is not available if and when a controller has been rendered inoperative and or unrecoverable while using the software with a Pro Tuning License.
